Confusing matters

"‘Billion-year’ Gambian President Was Installed by the CIA" (Madsen).  "What’s going on in Gambia?" (Korybko):
". . . what we can surmise from all of this lobbying and the ongoing post-election political crisis in Gambia is that the US wants Barrow to purge Jammah and all of his institutional supporters out of the country under the cover of the ICC in order for the country’s sovereignty to be ceded to Senegal under a so-called “confederation”."
The CIA keeps trying to find somebody in Gambia who will acquiesce to the takeover by Senegal of Gambia.

"Why Ridiculous Official Propaganda Still Works":
"The primary aim of official propaganda is to generate an “official narrative” that can be mindlessly repeated by the ruling classes and those who support and identify with them. This official narrative does not have to make sense, or to stand up to any sort of serious scrutiny. Its factualness is not the point. The point is to draw a Maginot line, a defensive ideological boundary, between “the truth” as defined by the ruling classes and any other “truth” that contradicts their narrative.

Imagine this Maginot line as a circular wall surrounded by inhospitable territory. Inside the wall is “normal” society, gainful employment, career advancement, and all the other considerable benefits of cooperating with the ruling classes. Outside the wall is poverty, anxiety, social and professional stigmatization, and various other forms of suffering. Which side of the wall do you want to be on? Every day, in countless ways, each of us are asked and have to answer this question. Conform, and there’s a place for you inside. Refuse, and … well, good luck out there.

In openly despotic societies, the stakes involved in making this choice (to conform or dissent) are often life and death. In our relatively liberal Western societies (for those of us who are not militant guerillas), the consequences of not conforming to the official narrative are usually subtler. Despite that, the pressure is still intense. Conforming to the consensus “reality” generated by these official narratives is price of admission to the inner sanctum, where the jobs, money, professional prestige, and the other rewards of Capitalism are. Conforming does not require belief. It requires allegiance and rote obedience. What one actually believes is completely irrelevant, as long as one parrots the official narrative.

In short, official propaganda is not designed to deceive the public (no more than the speeches in an actor’s script are intended to deceive the actor who speaks them). It is designed to be absorbed and repeated, no matter how implausible or preposterous it might be. Actually, it is often most effective when those who are forced to robotically repeat it know that it is utter nonsense, as the humiliation of having to do so cements their allegiance to the ruling classes (this phenomenon being a standard feature of the classic Stockholm Syndrome model, and authoritarian conditioning generally)."

"In the aftermath of the social convulsions of the 1960s, the wealthy elite occupying the core positions of power in the United States offered a tacit bargain to a variety of movements for social change.  Those individuals and groups who were willing to give up the struggle to change the system, and settled instead for a slightly improved place within it, suddenly started to receive corporate and government funding, and carefully vetted leaders from within the movements in question were brought into elite circles as junior partners. Those individuals and groups who refused these blandishments were marginalized, generally with the help of their more compliant peers.

If you ever wondered, for example, why environmental groups such as the Sierra Club and Friends of the Earth changed so quickly from scruffy fire-breathing activists to slickly groomed and well-funded corporate enablers, well, now you know. Equally, that’s why mainstream feminist organizations by and large stopped worrying about the concerns of the majority of women and fixated instead on “breaking the glass ceiling”—that is to say, giving women who already belong to the privileged classes access to more privilege than they have already. The core demand placed on former radicals who wanted to cash in on the offer, though, was that they drop their demands for economic justice—and American society being what it is, that meant that they had to stop talking about class issues.

The interesting thing is that a good many American radicals were already willing to meet them halfway on that. The New Left of the 1960s, like the old Left of the between-the-wars era, was mostly Marxist in its theoretical underpinnings, and so was hamstrung by the mismatch between Marxist theory and one of the enduring realities of American politics. According to Marxist theory, socialist revolution is led by the radicalized intelligentsia, but it gets the muscle it needs to overthrow the capitalist system from the working classes. This is the rock on which wave after wave of Marxist activism has broken and gone streaming back out to sea, because the American working classes are serenely uninterested in taking up the world-historical role that Marxist theory assigns to them. All they want is plenty of full time jobs at a living wage.  Give them that, and revolutionary activists can bellow themselves hoarse without getting the least flicker of interest out of them.

Every so often, the affluent classes lose track of this, and try to force the working classes to put up with extensive joblessness and low pay, so that affluent Americans can pocket the proceeds. This never ends well.  After an interval, the working classes pick up whatever implement is handy—Andrew Jackson, the Grange, the Populist movement, the New Deal, Donald Trump—and beat the affluent classes about the head and shoulders with it until the latter finally get a clue. This might seem  promising for Marxist revolutionaries, but it isn’t, because the Marxist revolutionaries inevitably rush in saying, in effect, “No, no, you shouldn’t settle for plenty of full time jobs at a living wage, you should die by the tens of thousands in an orgy of revolutionary violence so that we can seize power in your name.” My readers are welcome to imagine the response of the American working class to this sort of rhetoric.

The New Left, like the other American Marxist movements before its time, thus had a bruising face-first collision with cognitive dissonance: its supposedly infallible theory said one thing, but the facts refused to play along and said something very different. For much of the Sixties and Seventies, New Left theoreticians tried to cope with this by coming up with increasingly Byzantine redefinitions of “working class” that excluded the actual working class, so that they could continue to believe in the inevitability and imminence of the proletarian revolution Marx promised them. Around the time that this effort finally petered out into absurdity, it was replaced by the core concept of the identity politics currently central to the American left: the conviction that the only divisions in American society that matter are those that have some basis in biology.

Skin color, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability—these are the divisions that the American left likes to talk about these days, to the exclusion of all other social divisions, and especially to the exclusion of social class.  Since the left has dominated public discourse in the United States for many decades now, those have become the divisions that the American right talks about, too. (Please note, by the way, the last four words in the paragraph above: “some basis in biology.” I’m not saying that these categories are purely biological in nature; every one of them is defined in practice by a galaxy of cultural constructs and presuppositions, and the link to biology is an ostensive category marker rather than a definition. I insert this caveat because I’ve noticed that a great many people go out of their way to misunderstand the point I’m trying to make here.)

Are the divisions listed above important when it comes to discriminatory treatment in America today? Of course they are—but social class is also important. It’s by way of the erasure of social class as a major factor in American injustice that we wind up in the absurd situation in which a woman of color who makes a quarter million dollars a year plus benefits as a New York stockbroker can claim to be oppressed by a white guy in Indiana who’s working three part time jobs at minimum wage with no benefits in a desperate effort to keep his kids fed, when the political candidates that she supports and the economic policies from which she profits are largely responsible for his plight.

In politics as in physics, every action produces an equal and opposite reaction, and so absurdities of the sort just described have kindled the inevitable blowback. The Alt-Right scene that’s attracted so much belated attention from politicians and pundits over the last year is in large part a straightforward reaction to the identity politics of the left. Without too much inaccuracy, the Alt-Right can be seen as a network of young white men who’ve noticed that every other identity group in the country is being encouraged to band together to further its own interests at their expense, and responded by saying, “Okay, we can play that game too.” So far, you’ve got to admit, they’ve played it with verve.

That said, on the off chance that any devout worshippers of the great god Kek happen to be within earshot, I have a bit of advice that I hope will prove helpful. The next time you want to goad affluent American liberals into an all-out, fist-pounding, saliva-spraying Donald Duck meltdown, you don’t need the Jew-baiting, the misogyny, the racial slurs, and the rest of it.  All you have to do is call them on their class privilege. You’ll want to have the popcorn popped, buttered, and salted first, though, because if my experience is anything to go by, you’ll be enjoying a world-class hissy fit in seconds.

I’d also like to offer the rest of my readers another bit of advice that, again, I hope will prove helpful. As Donald Trump becomes the forty-fifth president of the United States and begins to push the agenda that got him into the White House, it may be useful to have a convenient way to sort through the mix of signals and noise from the opposition. When you hear people raising reasoned objections to Trump’s policies and appointments, odds are that you’re listening to the sort of thoughtful dissent that’s essential to any semblance of democracy, and it may be worth taking seriously. When you hear people criticizing Trump and his appointees for doing the same thing his rivals would have done, or his predecessors did, odds are that you’re getting the normal hypocrisy of partisan politics, and you can roll your eyes and stroll on.

But when you hear people shrieking that Donald Trump is the illegitimate result of a one-night stand between Ming the Merciless and Cruella de Vil, that he cackles in Russian while barbecuing babies on a bonfire, that everyone who voted for him must be a card-carrying Nazi who hates the human race, or whatever other bit of over-the-top hate speech happens to be fashionable among the chattering classes at the moment—why, then, dear reader, you’re hearing a phenomenon as omnipresent and unmentionable in today’s America as sex was in Victorian England. You’re hearing the voice of class bigotry: the hate that dare not speak its name."

"She looks as fit as an ox in the photo. Certainly healthy enough to be questioned by police."

Very optimistic (plus Henry Ford!): "Here’s how the Trump presidency will play out" (Escobar):
"“X” starts by doing something US deep state-connected regulars, who revere their idols, never dare to, at least in public; “It is important not to attribute too much importance to either Kissinger or Brzezinski as they are merely fronts for those who make the decisions and it is their job to cloak the decisions with a patina of intellectuality. Their input means relatively nothing. I use their names on occasion as I cannot use the names of those who actually make the decisions.”

That’s the cue for “X” to detail the new normal; “Trump was elected with the support of the Masters to tilt towards Russia. The Masters have their tools in the media and Congress maintaining a vilification campaign against Russia, and have their puppet Brzezinski also come out against Russia, stating ‘America’s global influence depends on cooperation with China’. The purpose is to threaten Russia to cooperate and place these chips on the negotiating table for Trump. In a traditional good cop-bad cop approach, Donald is portrayed as the good cop wanting good relations with Russia, and Congress, media, Brzezinski are the bad cops. This is to aid Trump in the negotiations with Russia as Putin sees the ‘precarious’ position of his friend and should be willing to make major concessions as the line goes.”

And that brings us to how Taiwan – and Japan – got into the mix;

“Donald shows the Russian tilt by talking to the Taiwanese, demonstrating that the shift is serious. But it was decided to throw Japan into the mix as a predator against US industry, with an attack on Toyota, thoroughly deserved. That moderated the position as the Masters became afraid that the perception of our building up Japan against China would be too much of a provocation.”

So expect China – as “not too much importance” Kissinger prescribed – to be under non-stop scrutiny; “The Masters have decided to reindustrialize the United States and want to take jobs back from China. This is advisable from the Chinese viewpoint; for why should they sell their work to the US for a dollar that has no intrinsic value and get really nothing back for the work. China should have a car in every Chinese worker’s garage and they will become a larger producer of cars than the EU, US and Japan combined, and their own nation will keep their wealth in their own country.”

And why China over Russia? “Russia in this sense being a natural resource country with a gigantic military industrial complex (the latter being the only reason she is secretly respected) is exempt from any tough trade talk as they hardly export anything but natural resources and military equipment. The Masters want jobs back from Mexico and Asia including Japan, Taiwan, etc., and you see this in Trump’s attack on Japan. The main underlying reason is that the US has lost control of the seas and cannot secure its military components during a major war. This is all that matters now and this is the giant story behind the scenes.”

In only a few words “X” details the reversal of an economic cycle; “The Masters made money out of transfer of industry to Asia (Bain Capital specialized in this), and Wall Street made money from the lower interest rates on the recycled dollars from the trade deficits. But now, the issue is strategic; and they will make money on the return of industries scaling down their investments in Asia and returning them to the United States as we rebuild production here.”"

"Head of MI6 used information from Trump dossier in first public speech".  On the issue of how much Steele was working for the British government.

"Did the Russians Really Hack the DNC?"  Good summary.  Note:

  1. the peculiar alleged combination of technical sophistication, and the failure to take the most rudimentary and easy steps to block evidence pointing to Russians; and
  2. the possibility there was both a hack and a leak, and the WikiLeaks information came from an insider leak.

"Here I Am Again, My Friends!"

Details of the oppo research players ("Andrew Wood (diplomat)"  "Fusion GPS"):  "Ex-MI6 agent Christopher Steele was so troubled by findings on Donald Trump that he worked for free: report":
"Glenn Simpson, a former investigative reporter with the Wall Street Journal, reportedly felt the same way about Steele’s findings and joined him in his unprofitable crusade, according to people familiar with the matter.
Simpson — who runs the Washington, D.C.-based Fusion GPS — was contracted by some of Trump’s Republican opponents in September 2015 and sources said he and Steele began working together last July.

Over the course of that summer, Steele sent out several memos to both the MI6 and the FBI and eventually compiled the information into the dossier published earlier this week. But he wasn’t making any headway — particularly not with the FBI’s New York office, which he claims seemed intent on focusing all its energy on Clinton’s email scandal.

In October, a disheartened Steele spoke to the Washington editor of Mother Jones about his findings, temporarily sparking a thread of public interest that quickly subsided.

After the election, Steele and Simpson doubled down on their efforts, hoping that the U.S. intelligence community’s consensus on Russia having interfered in the 2016 election would prompt further interest in their findings.

It was at that point that Andrew Wood, a former British ambassador to Moscow, spoke with Arizona Sen. John McCain at a security conference in Canada. Wood told McCain about the dossier, which concerned the longtime senator to the point that he alerted the FBI about it immediately."

"BuzzFeed’s Golden Showers":
"I’d also note here one peculiar, and possibly unethical, thing about the New York Times’ behavior here. The Times, like everyone but BuzzFeed, didn’t publish the report but they wrote quite a bit about it. In an early story it said that they would not identify the research firm behind the leaked memos because of “a confidential source agreement with The New York Times.” Then it revealed the firm’s name in a later story and edited the earlier one to take out the line about their confidential source agreement.

So it looks like the Times violated a confidentiality agreement, which is pretty troubling, especially because it has started a big push to get anonymous tips. “Not to get overly dramatic but Deep Throat wasn’t outed, even though he would have made a really cool feature,” a friend remarked to me."

"Xymphora is a proponent of the idea that behind many/most of the world ills lies the barely concealed influence of powerful Jewish interests. I think the first sentence is more or less true, but clarifying does not refer to Jews - I hardly need any more evidence of that kind of perfidy! - but to the post-Trump wailings of the credentialed class, the liberals, the 'left', 'progressives', and their ilk (of course, many of whom are, in fact, Jewish, with certainly violent racist supremacist motives).  These are the people who have tried to pass for progressive for years, whining about things that the Republicans have done, but we now know with their McCarthyism and warmongering that their attempts to pass as good, decent, moral people was all just partisan bullshit.  The liberals have proven to be no better than the Koch brothers. Tweets by Christo Grozev on the December 26 death in Moscow of Oleg Erovinkin.  "Top Rosneft Exec Found Dead in Moscow".  "Former Russian FSB agent, Rosneft official found dead in Moscow".  "Former KGB agent and Kremlin’s most reliable man, Oleg Erovinkin, found dead on the backseat of a black Lexus":

"Let us not forget, Senator McCain had an assistant fly all the way to London to get a copy of the report, in early December 2016, a copy he then personally handed over to FBI director Comey asking him to look into it. The report had been floating around Washington for weeks, all the FBI had to do was to pick it up basically, yet it took that move by McCain to bring the document to the attention of the Bureau, which was as clueless about the specifics of the allegations as the rest of the IC, if we are to believe DNI Clapper."

"Controversial Dossier on Trump Alleges That Russia Targets Jewish-American Businessmen".  Lots of code here for the concept of dual loyalty, and anti-treasonous attempts of Russia to deal with it.

Interstitiality is a term recently popularized in identity politics (see also intersectionality).  It was big in the Clinton campaign.  We used to call it 'double-dipping', the idea that various people ought to be able to get multiple gibs based on falling in multiple categories of victimhood.  Politics is reduced to the calculation of how much people are owed based on the number and type of oppressions they face.   The Trump hatred is so interstitial that the BuzzFeed attack was inevitable (and actually a strong tribute to Trump in that he scares so much Evil):

  1. BigJew and World Jewry who control the media hate Putin due to his effective blocking of the expansion of the Zionist Empire, and hate Trump for his isolationism and rebuttal of identity politics;
  2. the Ukrainians hate Putin for his deft recovery from the effects of the Maidan color revolution, and hate Trump out of sheer terror that he won't restart the Cold War, which they perceive as literally their last hope;
  3. The CIA hates Trump out of fear he will side with the Pentagon and vastly reduce CIA influence and corruption;
  4. Old cold warriors like McCain hate Trump due to his isolationism and sanity with respect to American-Russian relations;
  5. MI6 sides with their pals/bosses in the CIA; and
  6. There is likely treason within the Russian government by those assisting in the fabrication (and there may be NATO involvement, given the loss of power to NATO bureaucrats should any peace break out).
It is unwise to refer to this as a 'deep state' attack, as that obfuscates the nature and identity of the very identifiable actors involved, who have varying motives for the attack.  In fact, the failure of the attack to gain much traction outside the Jew-controlled media is evidence that other big players who are also parts of the deep state are still siding with Trump.  There are actually American patriots who who dislike Trump but find this kind of attempt at a foreign coup disturbing.

Factual errors

The Buzzfeed disinfo memo is frustrating as almost all of the 'facts' provided to us come from some intelligence operation (i.e., known professional liars).  About the only thing we know for sure is that there are a lot of Ukrainians in and around the operation, and a few glimpses we can get with meta-analysis.

"John McCain passes dossier alleging secret Trump-Russia contacts to FBI":
"Despite glowing references from US and foreign officials who have worked with the source, there are some errors in the reports. One describes the Moscow suburb of Barvikha as “reserved for the residences of the top leadership and their close associates”, but although it is a very expensive neighbourhood, there are no restrictions on who can own property there. The document also misspells the name of a Russian banking corporation."

and (date altering complicates the analysis):
"Some of the reports – which are dated from 20 June to 20 October last year – also proved to be prescient, predicting events that happened after they were sent." "

"10 key Donald Trump allegations from the classified Russia dossier":
"The documents contain some clear factual errors

Top level Russian official confirms current closeness of Alpha Group-Putin relationship. Significant favours continue to be done in both directions and Fridman and Aven still giving informal advice to Putin, especially on the US.

COMMENT: The company is named Alfa Group, not Alpha Group as it appears throughout the documents. Elsewhere, according to BuzzFeed News, the unnamed author describes the settlement of Barvikha, outside Moscow, as “reserved for the residences of the top leadership and their close associates”. It is not reserved for anyone, and it is also populated by the very wealthy, BuzzFeed News reports."
Steele is a former top-level MI6 counterintelligence agent specializing in Russia. He would not make these mistakes.  I have to conclude that somebody else wrote the material - educated guess, Ukrainians who would make these mistakes - and Steele sold his name to put on them and act as a spokesman in order to give them credibility.

"How the Trump dossier came to light: secret sources, a retired spy and John McCain" (my emphasis in red; what possible reason would there be to hide the city?):
"In mid-November, the documents took another route into Washington that ultimately led to them being mentioned in the joint intelligence report on Russian interference that was delivered to President Obama and President-elect Trump. On 18 November, the annual Halifax International Security Forum opened in the Canadian city, bringing together serving and former security and foreign policy officials from around the world.

Senator John McCain, a hawkish Republican, was there and was introduced to a former senior western diplomat who had seen the documents, knew their source and thought him highly reliable. McCain decided the implications were sufficiently alarming to dispatch a trusted emissary, a former US official, to meet the source and find out more.

The emissary hastily arranged a transatlantic flight and met the source at the airport as arranged. (The Guardian has agreed not to specify the city or country where the meeting took place.) The meeting had a certain cold war tradecraft to it, as he was told to look for a man with a copy of the Financial Times. Having found each other, the retired counter-intelligence officer drove the emissary to his house, where they discussed the documents and their background."

McCain is probably helping his neo-Nazi pals in Ukraine, as this whole operation had been a dud up to McCain's involvement:  "BuzzFeed Posts Unverified Claims on Trump, Igniting a Debate":
"But BuzzFeed’s move was welcomed by some people, who expressed concern that news outlets and government officials with access to the allegations had not disclosed them sooner. Almost immediately, the report’s publication prompted questions from Hillary Clinton’s camp about why the claims had not surfaced earlier.

“Today has brought a gush of reporting that outlets knew about and sat on prior to November 8,” Brian Fallon, Mrs. Clinton’s chief campaign spokesman, wrote on Twitter. He added, in a second message: “I repeat: certain media outlets were told this prior to November 8.”

Mother Jones, a left-leaning publication, published an article in late October about the existence of the information. Newsweek also published some of the allegations.

Immediately after BuzzFeed’s publication, some reporters volunteered that they, too, had received copies of the report. “Raise your hand if you too were approached with this story,” Julia Ioffe, a journalist who has written extensively on Russia, wrote on Twitter, adding that she had not reported on the information in the document “because it was impossible to verify.”

Writers at the blog Lawfare, which covers national security issues, said they had been in possession of the document “for a couple of weeks” but opted not to publish because the allegations were unproven."
It appears that the material was widely disseminated in mid to late October to the kind of 'journalists' who might take the bait.  The Corn piece from October 31 (which also refers to Harry Reid's vague allegations in his August 27 letter to Comey probably inspired by 'Steele's' first memo or memos in summer 2016):
"But Reid's recent note hinted at more than the Page or Manafort affairs. And a former senior intelligence officer for a Western country who specialized in Russian counterintelligence tells Mother Jones that in recent months he provided the bureau with memos, based on his recent interactions with Russian sources, contending the Russian government has for years tried to co-opt and assist Trump—and that the FBI requested more information from him.

"This is something of huge significance, way above party politics," the former intelligence officer says. "I think [Trump's] own party should be aware of this stuff as well."
Does this mean the FBI is investigating whether Russian intelligence has attempted to develop a secret relationship with Trump or cultivate him as an asset? Was the former intelligence officer and his material deemed credible or not? An FBI spokeswoman says, "Normally, we don't talk about whether we are investigating anything." But a senior US government official not involved in this case but familiar with the former spy tells Mother Jones that he has been a credible source with a proven record of providing reliable, sensitive, and important information to the US government.

In June, the former Western intelligence officer—who spent almost two decades on Russian intelligence matters and who now works with a US firm that gathers information on Russia for corporate clients—was assigned the task of researching Trump's dealings in Russia and elsewhere, according to the former spy and his associates in this American firm. This was for an opposition research project originally financed by a Republican client critical of the celebrity mogul. (Before the former spy was retained, the project's financing switched to a client allied with Democrats.) "It started off as a fairly general inquiry," says the former spook, who asks not to be identified. But when he dug into Trump, he notes, he came across troubling information indicating connections between Trump and the Russian government. According to his sources, he says, "there was an established exchange of information between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin of mutual benefit."

This was, the former spy remarks, "an extraordinary situation." He regularly consults with US government agencies on Russian matters, and near the start of July on his own initiative—without the permission of the US company that hired him—he sent a report he had written for that firm to a contact at the FBI, according to the former intelligence officer and his American associates, who asked not to be identified. (He declines to identify the FBI contact.) The former spy says he concluded that the information he had collected on Trump was "sufficiently serious" to share with the FBI.

Mother Jones has reviewed that report and other memos this former spy wrote. The first memo, based on the former intelligence officer's conversations with Russian sources, noted, "Russian regime has been cultivating, supporting and assisting TRUMP for at least 5 years. Aim, endorsed by PUTIN, has been to encourage splits and divisions in western alliance." It maintained that Trump "and his inner circle have accepted a regular flow of intelligence from the Kremlin, including on his Democratic and other political rivals." It claimed that Russian intelligence had "compromised" Trump during his visits to Moscow and could "blackmail him." It also reported that Russian intelligence had compiled a dossier on Hillary Clinton based on "bugged conversations she had on various visits to Russia and intercepted phone calls."

The former intelligence officer says the response from the FBI was "shock and horror." The FBI, after receiving the first memo, did not immediately request additional material, according to the former intelligence officer and his American associates. Yet in August, they say, the FBI asked him for all information in his possession and for him to explain how the material had been gathered and to identify his sources. The former spy forwarded to the bureau several memos—some of which referred to members of Trump's inner circle. After that point, he continued to share information with the FBI. "It's quite clear there was or is a pretty substantial inquiry going on," he says."

Thick skulls

Lest you forgot, or are simply too deplorable to get it through your thick skull, the Jew-controlled media would like to remind you about Russia, the country standing in the way of the building of the Zionist Empire:  "Weird MSNBC Feed Glitch Leaves David Ignatius In Russia Loop" and "Why Did C-SPAN's Feed Suddenly Change To RT?".

“It’s just way too good,” he said. “If the head of the CIA were to declare he got information of this quality, you wouldn’t believe it.”
Mr. Wordsworth said it wouldn’t make sense for Russian intelligence officials to expose state secrets to a former MI6 officer. “Russians believe once you are an agent, you’re an agent forever,” he said"

"The memo was originally generated on behalf of Republican opponents of Trump but was later shopped to the media by Democrats."  That's something you don't see every day - deep political oppo passing from one party to the other!  Who paid Steele, the Democrats, the Republicans, the Ukrainians, or all three?

"4Chan Claim About Inventing Trump Pissgate Report Is Complete Bullshit [Update]".  The /pol/ story could still be partly true, at least to the extent of the mechanics of how the material reached McCain.  Who wrote the material isn't the big issue, it is the peculiarly late introduction of it into American politics.

The most striking oddity is that the supposedly enormous amount of legitimate material against Trump, including all the mafia shenanigans required to be a casino operator/New York real estate developer, never made it into the race.  Democrats muttered about having it, but never produced it.

"The Deep State Goes to War with President-Elect, Using Unverified Claims, as Democrats Cheer".  What are the chances that this is a Roger Stone ratfucking operation?  It simultaneously makes the Clintonistas look like desperate poor losers with a pervy streak, ends any claims of legitimacy by the mainstream media in discussing Trump (or anything else), obfuscates under streams of pee any real corruption allegations - especially Russian ties - against Trump, while providing 100% distraction from the serious statements made in confirmation hearings, especially against Sessions.  Brilliant.  The only trick is the timing, and who controlled the timing of the release.

The Narrative, exploding

"4Chan Claims To Have Fabricated Anti-Trump Report As A Hoax".  "Archived Posts Prove 4Chan Trolled CIA With Trump Golden Shower Story - Entire Russian Hack Narrative Imploding?"  Another nail in the coffin of 'journalism'.  4Chan is better at it than BuzzFeed or CNN.  By the way, intended or not, this has the effect of rendering laughable any discussion of possible Trump corruption involving Russian money.

"Why Crowdstrike’s Russian Hacking Story Fell Apart 2 The DNI Report Faked Sources" (Steve Emerson and Rita Katz!!!):
"The only 2 groups that are known to possess X-Agent are Crowdstrike and the Ukrainian hacker RUH8.  The DNI report relies on both to hold their facts together. Both are discredited. The following admission should interest John Podesta.

According to a RFE/RL interview, “RUH8 says the Cyber Alliance uses “all tools and methods” at its disposal to hack into their perceived foes’ accounts. In particular, he says, spear-phishing — using messages that mimic those of legitimate companies along with a request and link to change personal security information — “is quite efficient. People readily give up their passwords and personal info,” he says. “They receive something in their [e-]mail like, ‘Your account will be suspended if you don’t confirm [your security details].’ They click that link and we have them.”

Is it me or has RUH8 done everything except openly confess to hacking Podesta? Spear-fishing is the tactic said to be used in the DNC hacking. Only 2 known groups have the X-Agent and only RUH8 states openly that they changed the course of world geopolitics. Neither of them has been investigated. Security analysts are starting to speculate that if there was a hack, the Ukrainians probably did it. The self-identifying Pravy Sektor members RUH8 are also claiming to have hacked the Russian government email. When the facts are considered, RUH8 may have done a hack to cover up the Craig Murray leak.

The FBI now in charge of domestic intelligence didn’t investigate anything. All the evidence to prove a Russian hack has been shown clearly to be flawed and faked. Crowdstrike is guilty of at least perjury based on their own statements and the evidence they gave to the FBI. The DNI and 17 Intel agencies are relying on neo-nazi group hackers that openly mock them.

This only leaves only one scenario that has an unblemished track record. Julian Assange and Craig Murray told the truth. The emails were leaked."

Over the top

When the CIA's Putin-Trump lies don't convince the hotbed of liberalism, The New York Review of Books . . . :  "Russia, Trump & Flawed Intelligence":
"Despite its brevity, the report makes many repetitive statements remarkable for their misplaced modifiers, mangled assertions, and missing words. This is not just bad English: this is muddled thinking and vague or entirely absent argument. Take, for example, this phrase: “Moscow most likely chose WikiLeaks because of its self-proclaimed reputation for authenticity.” I think, though I cannot be sure, that the authors of the report are speculating that Moscow gave the products of its hacking operation to WikiLeaks because WikiLeaks is known as a reliable source. The next line, however, makes this speculation unnecessary: “Disclosures through WikiLeaks did not contain any evident forgeries.”

Or consider this: “Putin most likely wanted to discredit Secretary Clinton because he has publicly blamed her since 2011 for inciting mass protests against his regime in late 2011 and early 2012, and because he holds a grudge for comments he almost certainly saw as disparaging him.” Did Putin’s desire to discredit Clinton stem from his own public statements, or are the intelligence agencies basing their appraisal of Putin’s motives on his public statements? Logic suggests the latter, but grammar indicates the former. The fog is not coincidental: if the report’s vague assertions were clarified and its circular logic straightened out, nothing would be left."

Et tu, Jacobin?

"The United States does not want the Syrian opposition to acquire anti-aircraft missiles or MANPADS whereas some Western countries and the Gulf would like to send those weapons. But the opposition is forming these demands for no-fly zones because of the US embargo preventing such weapons from entering Syria. If the opposition really had those type of weapons, the no-fly zone would not be necessary because people would be able to defend themselves and strike back if the Syrian jets or the Russian jets are bombing their cities and villages. That’s my position and I think that should be the position of the Left."

Jacobin's politics has been close to perfect but there is no walking this one back.  It's over.  Commies for MANPADS!

"In passing, allow me to destroy quickly the “we have smoking gun evidence but it’s too secret to show you” argument. Given the Snowden revelations and the whistleblowing of the former NSA Technical Director Bill Binney, for the US government to claim to be hiding the fact that it can tack all electronic traffic in the USA is risible. This is like saying we can’t give you the evidence in case the Russians find out the sky is blue. If there were hacks, the NSA could identify the precise hack transmitting the precise information out of Washington. Everybody knows that. There were no hacks so there is no evidence. End of argument. They are internal leaks."

From October:  "Israeli embassy embraces extremists to save flagging brand":
"Embassy official Rony Yedidia-Clein, who said she was “delighted” to be at the event, introduced Ohana with remarks of her own, and spent the rest of the event contributing answers and comments in response to audience questions.

Yedidia-Clein gave the impression of an embassy that has its work cut out, bemoaning the fact that “today it’s become almost a badge of honour for someone to call themselves an anti-Zionist, and a term of shame for someone to call themselves a Zionist.”

According to the diplomat, the embassy has been working to establish local “friends of Israel” groups, and she praised the work of “people in the room” who have “helped…us at the embassy” to set up 40 such organisations in the past two years, citing Inverness (see here) and Jersey (see here)."
Assange's anarcho-conspiracy theory.  The reaction of the conspirators to leaks is to close down their communications structures which are vitally necessary for the conspirators to operate.  One problem with this is exemplified in the American election itself, where Assange fatally messed up the Democratic Party (it would be interesting to know if the failed technical campaign by the Democrats was in part due to terror at leaks), an act which just allowed another better-armed group of conspirators to prevail.

"The Democrats’ Conspiracy Theory".

"Allegations Against Russia Less Credible Every Day":
"Supposedly the evidence has been made public and is overwhelming, but try to find it and you’ll come up dry. Ask why, and you’ll be told that of course the evidence cannot be made public as that would risk revealing how the U.S. government came upon the information. Yet the same government feeds the U.S. media with the story that it intercepted communications of top Russian officials just after the U.S. election celebrating Trump’s victory. Did that story not run that risk? The U.S. government feeds the U.S. media (specifically the “free” press of the Washington Post whose owner makes more money from the CIA than from the Washington Post) that Russia has hacked Vermont’s electrical supply, and — because this was a claim that could be checked by an independent party — the secret methods of the CIA quickly turned out to be these: they had simply made the thing up."

"US Report Still Lacks Proof on Russia ‘Hack’" (Parry; conclusive argument I'd say, with the CIA giving Putin credit for predicting a certain Trump win when nobody else did):
". . . while it is true that many Russian officials, including President Putin, considered Clinton to be a threat to worsen the already frayed relationship between the two nuclear superpowers, the report ignores the downside for Russia trying to interfere with the U.S. election campaign and then failing to stop Clinton, which looked like the most likely outcome until Election Night.
If Russia had accessed the DNC and Podesta emails and slipped them to WikiLeaks for publication, Putin would have to think that the National Security Agency, with its exceptional ability to track electronic communications around the world, might well have detected the maneuver and would have informed Clinton.
So, on top of Clinton’s well-known hawkishness, Putin would have risked handing the expected incoming president a personal reason to take revenge on him and his country. Historically, Russia has been very circumspect in such situations, usually holding its intelligence collections for internal purposes only, not sharing them with the public.
While it is conceivable that Putin decided to take this extraordinary risk in this case – despite the widely held view that Clinton was a shoo-in to defeat Trump – an objective report would have examined this counter argument for him not doing so."

"American Unintelligence on Russia (Op-ed)".  The CIA had such a weak case they had to put the RT stuff in to back it up, but the RT stuff is just silly drivel.

Nothing destroys ones faith in our “democratic” process more quickly than learning that Debbie Wasserman Schultz tried to rig the primaries against Bernie Sanders. In other words, those crafty Rooskies were going to flood America with truth."

"UK intelligence gave US key tipoff about Russian hacking, report says".  You'll remember the intelligence technique used in the lies which led to the Iraq war whereby the 'intelligence' is burnished by feeding it through another country, thus giving your own lies the appearance of verification by a disinterested third party (Niger yellowcake).  This 'outside' information also makes it easier to stovepipe it, i.e., feed it directly into the political system without the usual intelligence expert vetting for credibility:  "The Stovepipe".
